Natural Dyeing


Color derived from plants and minerals—Indigo, Madder, Pomegranate, Lac, Myrobalan, and more. Slight tonal irregularities make each piece unique.

    1. Scouring (Removing waxes, oils, sizing agents for better absorption)
    2. Mordanting with mineral salts (to bind dyes to fiber)
    3. Immersion/layer dyeing 
    4. Sun-drying (Naturally set in sunlight, not chemical-fixated)
    5. Final neutral pH rinse

Traditional Dyeing Techniques

Bandhani / Bandhej

Tie-resist method using micro knots to form intricate dot patterns, traditionally practiced in Gujarat and Rajasthan.



  • Suggested Base Fabrics: Organic Cotton, Gaji Silk, Modal, Tussar Silk, Cotton-Silk Blends, Chanderi, Muslin/Mulmul, plant-based options (Hemp Cotton, Banana Cotton Blends, Bamboo Cotton) & custom fabric types upon request.
  • Dye Options: Natural Indigo, Madder, Harad, Azo-Free Synthetic Colors.
  • Process:
    1. Fabric is pre-scoured & mordanted (for natural dyes).
    2. Pattern is hand-tied with thousands of micro knots.
    3. Dyed in layers for multi-tones (can be re-knotted and over-dyed).
    4. Knots removed to reveal fine dotted patterns.
